Every holiday season I strive to buy gifts for my family that are different, thoughtful, and out of the ordinary. I want to give them gifts they will love, but something that is personal and unique to them. Be it a gift that will make them laugh, remind them of a special memory we’ve shared, or help build their future and inspire them to be great. Below are some wonderful gift ideas that might make the people in your life feel special, silly, and inspire their creativity.
The Ultimate Christmas Gift List for Kids
I have to start with the gift that was the most entertaining for my family. Who doesn’t love the iconic PEZ candy dispenser? This fun toy/candy is now available in a gift-set depicting the fun, lovable Grinch! When I was a little girl, I used to love PEZ dispensers, the reloadable candies in the different flavors. Over the years PEZ Holiday Gifts have become a family tradition — we are really fond of them! When this collectible Grinch PEZ Gift Tin showed up at my door, my teenage daughter grabbed it and wouldn’t let anyone else near it! Cindy Lou Who is sitting on her bedside table because she loves her so much! This holiday gift set would be perfect for anyone who is excited about Illumination’s Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch movie! The gift set includes: The Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, Max (the fun little dog) and Fred, a lovable moose. Also included inside the collectible tin is a six-pack of Green Apple flavored Pez Candies to fill up all the dispensers.
For the young ones in your life, Klutz Jr Art Kits are perfect. I have to admit, I enjoyed making the My Clothespin Zoo animals more than I probably should. But making them was so much fun and when you can create something so cute out of fluff balls and pipe cleaners, who wouldn’t feel happy? Klutz makes wonderful activity kits that will entertain your preschool kids for hours. Not only would these crafts be fun for a group event, play date, or birthday party, but when you’re all sitting around after enjoying your holiday meal together, kids can entertain themselves with a fun kit from Klutz JR. These kits not only allow your child to use their imaginations, but they also allow for developmental skills such as hand-eye coordination, sensory development, concentration, and fine motor skills. Klutz My Clothespin Zoo & My Simple Sewing are fun for children 4 years and older.

Books have been my passion since I was a little girl. Books are, not only, a vessel for learning, but they also build imaginations, help mold your mind, and help kids discover who they are and what they want to be when they grow up. This fun Read-aloud picture book from Candlewick Press, Interrupting Chicken and the Elephant of Surprise became a gift to my co-worker. She has three small children and her three-year-old has grabbed this book up and held on tight! In the book, Chicken and his dad are talking about the lesson Chicken learned in school about how all stories have a twist that makes the reader say, “OH!”…it’s the Element of Surprise, which Chicken kept calling the “Elephant of Surprise.” David Ezra Stein is the author of this funny, colorful, story for children ages 4 years and older. • Enter the promotion code CANDLEWICK at checkout on candlewick.com to receive 25% off all books. Only valid to U.S. purchases.
Cooler Than Cool! Something for the Teens & Tech Kids!
Can I just say how cool some “TOYS” are these days? Take this Drone Kit from Circuit Scribe for example. This is the neatest thing I’ve seen in a long time. It takes the idea that a metal conductor can power a small engine and all you need is this pen! Okay, so it’s not like a normal ball point pen. It’s a special pen that allows the user to draw with conductive silver ink. My head is still trying to wrap around the genius behind this one! My son is fourteen and was excited to get this amazing STEM gift to try. Getting starting was a simple set up via a quick app download onto his phone. My child was zooming around our yard with this drone in no-time! The best part, the part that still makes me giddy? There’s a camera that not only takes still pictures from the drone, it also does a video! Granted, my inexperience brought me many pictures of car tires, my very white legs, and the dog’s face. However, imagine the possibilities! Imagine what your child could learn from this! I can’t say enough about this Drone Kit. It will be everyone’s FAVORITE gift this holiday season.
