Some are better than others at preparing food for parties and gatherings. You know… there are those who put television chefs to shame, and then there are those who are always asked to bring the drinks. It isn’t to be mean, it is to spare them the effort, of course (or at least that is what I have always heard.) If that person is always you, shock ’em all this year and show up with this quick and easy party pleasing snack! It is so good everyone will be begging you to bring it from now on instead of the chips.
Do you have any idea what this is yet?
It is white chocolate covered Rice Chex with red and green sprinkles
That’s all! It takes fewer than ten minutes to have a great crunchy and chocolatey treat that is sure to please.
All you need to do is melt a package of your favorite white melting chocolate, according to the package directions, in a large glass bowl. Once the chocolate is melted and creamy, pour in the cereal and gently stir. Pour the coated cereal onto wax paper, decorate with your favorite sugar sprinkles, and allow to harden. The entire process takes less than ten minutes.
*NOTE: Don’t forgo the sugar sprinkles. They really do make a difference!
Once the mixture is hardened you can package them in individual serving sizes and add to a gift basket full of edible goodies, or pour them into a festive bowl for the party. We enjoy this great mix during movie night at our house. It never makes it out the door to share with others.
Share it or keep it? Whatever you plan to do with it, I hope you enjoy this quick and easy party snack as much as we do.
Quick & Easy Party Snack
- 1 Box Rice Chex Cereal
- 1 Package Almond Butter Melting Chocolate
- 1 tbsp Crisco Shortening
- Red & Green Sugar Sprinkles
- Wax Paper
- Party Favor Bags
Before you begin, cover a large portion of your counter/workspace with wax paper — about 3 feet in length, with a minimum depth of 2 feet.
Pour Rice cereal into a large mixing bowl, set aside.
In a microwave safe bowl, melt white chocolate and shortening for 30 seconds. Stir and heat again for another 30 seconds. Remove from microwave, stir until mixture is creamy. (If mixture isn’t warm enough, return to the microwave for 15 seconds, don’t overheat.)
Pour chocolate into rice cereal, fold gently until all of the cereal is covered.
Spread mixture out onto the wax paper. Garnish with sugar sprinkles.
Allow chocolate to set before packaging into party favor bags or adding to your serving platter/bowl.
