  • When I was 16, all I wanted was a ghetto blaster with a dual cassette so I could make my own recordings on blank cassette tapes. I also wanted a CD player. I was blessed to get a ghetto blaster with the dual cassette and CD, but I got it a couple of days before Christmas. My brother, 4 years younger than me, had helped my parents pick out the ghetto blaster. The suspense and secret was driving him nuts so after supper, I think on the 23rd of December, my brother proudly carried the wrapped gift out to me at the kitchen table. Needless to say, I was over the moon. I got blank cassettes for Christmas and it did not take long for me to have them all filled with music. I still remember that my brother got teary eyed, just as I did, when I opened my gift.

  • The most exciting present I could ever remember getting was a chemistry set and a microscope which seemed so incredibly precious to me that I rarely took them out of the box. I was afraid I would break them. The Microscope was reasonably good quality and had lenses and slides and solution prep and scalpels and so on.

  • I always loved our silly and unique Christmas Eves (and traditions)… I always looked forward to Christmas Eve, all year ā€˜round. Our little family would listen to Elvis’ Christmas album, have playful arguments over whether we should each open a gift that evening, and pig out on random finger foods. I cherished every moment of it.

I remember one year however our parents saved up and bought a trampoline as a gift for all 3 of us to share. It was the best Christmas gift ever. We had so much fun on that trampoline for years.
