Barefoot Walking vs. Shoes for Babies

Let’s talk about barefoot walking vs. shoes for babies. Barefoot walking has long been praised as the best way for your baby to get on the move, but there are times when I think going barefoot hasn’t been the safest option for our babies. I have seen my wee ones receive bruising and calluses from constantly trying to use parts of their foot to crawl. We also had one child who was constantly stubbing his toes (and tripping) on the tile floor. The worst of it all (for me), was when I had one child refuse to wear shoes for years! That ordeal taught me a lot about introducing baby to the right shoe and the importance of allowing them the opportunity to experience wearing shoes as often as possible.

It’s all about balance mommy! Or is it baby steps?

We received the Originals® Art Earth Dino to try for our newborn.  First, the print is adorable! Our children are BIG dinosaur lovers so they were amused to see their baby brother would be stepping out with dino shoes as his first pair!

Once everyone stopped gushing over the print, I was able to unbox them to really see how pediped® Originals® are made. Rubbing your fingers along the stitching, and feeling the soft leather sole you get a sense that a lot of care is taken to make each shoe.

Are they really soft?  Yes! They are soft enough that I can ball them up with my hands.  I can squeeze the soles in half lengthwise and crosswise. (Upon release they go right back into shape.)  Rubbing my fingers inside the shoe itself feels much like the inside of my old leather jacket.
