I would choose Reading Skills for 1st Grade. My oldest daughter is in kindergarten, but is a great reader and could really benefit from these books. Plus, her little sister could use these books when she gets older.
200 Essential Reading Skills for Second Grade would be perfect for my 1st grader, he has been testing high in reading so the harder material would keep him challenged.
